Day 132 - Tony Augello of Fallujah 71 - 09.30.11
Spent the evening in Canoga Park at Guitar Merchant. Saw Fallujah 71 and my son's band Lock/Jaw play. This is the singer of Fallujah 71 Tony Augello. I've seen Tony around at shows for quite a number of years. I have some photos of him in the crowd at a JFA show and a Paint It Black show from a few years back. They put on a great show. They closed with "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine and they killed it. The kids all went wild singing along. Lock/Jaw played next and were great. So this was something I saw today.

Day 130 - Chair In The Morning Light - 09.28.11
Had some weird things happen today that really cut into my day. I took this photo early in the morning and knew it wasn't super then. I planned on finding something better during the day, but then the weirdness got in the way and before I knew it the day was just about over and I hadn't posted a photo. So you get this rather mundane image of a chair in the morning light through our front window. It was something I saw today.

Day 126 - Disneyland Survey Marker - 09.24.11
Had a quick visit to the Magic Kingdom this morning. I really wanted to just see the Halloween decorations and go on the Haunted Mansion ride. It was a nice casual morning. The last time we went to Disneyland a couple weeks back we met a man who was a big Disneyfile. He said that one fun thing he does is search for and photograph the survey markers around Disneyland. It is a bit of a game like looking for Hidden Mickey's. My daughter found this one on the sidewalk between Pixie Hollow and the bathrooms near the Alice in Wonderland ride. After grabbing this photo I couldn't help but search for others, but I didn't find any yet. maybe next time. It was something I saw today.

Day 125 - Listening To Ipod Shadow - 09.23.11
This morning as I was getting ready for the day I was listening to my ipod. As I came out of our kitchen and into our dining room I saw my own shadow on the wall in the morning light. I liked the shape of my arm, ipod and headphones chord. I decided to grab my camera and take a photo of it. As part of full disclosure I did pump up the color in Lightroom. It was something I saw today.

Day 122 - G.I. Joe On Patrol - 09.20.11
Did some cleaning and organizing in the garage today. Found my boxes of old G.I. Joe stuff and decided I'd bring it in the house to go through and perhaps photograph. So this is G.I. Joe in his "Trouble Shooter" on patrol in the alley next to my house. You can't quite read "Trouble Shooter" on the front hood, but that is what it says. Now there are some parts missing from the vehicle in this picture, that is because I took this picture before thoroughly going through the boxes. For instance the windshield and an antennae are missing, but I have since found them. The big grey part on the back used to take batteries and play audio by pushing some buttons on the back. I remember a few years trying that out, but that feature is long since broken. There is also a rubber bird that came with this that worked into the story the audio told. I couldn't figure out an easy way to work him into the photo. So this was something I saw today.

Day 120 - Axxel G. Reese - 09.18.11
Had a great evening of music. Went to see my son's band play at Viva Cantina here in Burbank. The show was presented by Jonny Whiteside and is a frequent occurrence at Viva Cantina and is called Jonny Whiteside's Messaround . There were a lot of really fun bands playing. The headliners were The Gears, which I was really excited to see. The evening had all sorts of great surprises. The first was the opening band which was the Messaround Band, who were the house band. The surprise was the great blues set. The next fun surprise for me and for my son was to see Keith Morris of Black Flag and The Circle Jerks fame in the audience watching the show. The next was the closing number by the band The Peeks. This band has the son of Chip Kinman (of The Dils) in the band. That wasn't the surprise. The surprise was when Chip joined the band on stage for a rip roaring number "White Lightning." They totally rocked the place out. Then The Gears were just fantastic. Tons of Punk Rock energy. This shot is a nice up close and personal shot of front man Axxel G. Reese. More photos are here. It was something I saw today.

Day 119 - Tin Horn Flats Bar & Grill - 09.17.11
Went on a walk around Burbank this afternoon. I decided to walk some places I normally only pass in a car. One of those places is on Magnolia Blvd., the Tin Horn Flats Bar & Grill. I've never been in this place, but some day I will venture in there. For a long time it looked like it was just a country western bar, however in recent years I noticed that during football season there at nothing but Bears jerseys hanging around the place. Apparently the place has become a big Chicago sports fan hang out. Hence the reason that some day I'll go in there. You'd never know the place was home to Chicago fans from this sign, though. And the swinging saloon doors in front don't exactly scream Chicago either. It was something I saw today.

Day 118 - Broken Phone - 09.16.11
Went for a walk over to Vickroy Park this morning. It's a nearby park that I've driven by many times, but never actually visited. I was surprised to see a pay phone that was still somewhat operational. I say somewhat because while the phone was actually still there (unlike so many other phones that have been removed), the receiver looked like it had seen better days. It was something I saw today.

Day 113 - Cobwebs - 09.11.11
I almost feel bad following up yesterday's fine photo with this somewhat bland offering. However I wasn't quite up for putting forth too much energy into finding and creating a fabulous photo today. The whole day has been a bit of a lazy day. Today I coined the term Disneyland hangover, which I have noticed I have the days after a late night at Disneyland. All the walking, and then the late night of photo processing takes its toll and it usually takes me a day to recover. This morning I told my wife that it was a Disneyland hangover. So with the hangover I stepped into my back yard and took this photo of some cobwebs underneath our trusty old (and I do mean old) Little Tikes table. It was something I saw today.

Day 108 - Cleaning Up The Accident - 09.06.11
On my way home from work I passed through the Victory and Alameda intersection shortly after a traffic accident. When I got there the two cars were already on flatbeds, officers were questioning people and the clean up was nearly finished. I believe this man worked for one of the towing companies. He was pouring some dirt down to clean up some oil or gasoline on the pavement. It was something I saw today.

Day 107 - Waiting For Disneyland To Open - 09.05.11
We got up really early this morning and headed to Disneyland. The main reason to get there so early was to take photos of the park as it opened. When you go to Disneyland early the park opens at 8AM, however they let you through the gates at about 7:45. Then everyone gathers at the end of Main Street USA where they have a rope. At 8AM that rope drops and everyone can walk (not run) to the rides. We were near the very front and while waiting I snapped some photos of other people waiting. This cute girl was waiting patiently on her father's shoulders. She was something I saw today.

Day 106 - Sunset Over Power Lines - 09.04.11
This evening's walk down the Chandler Bike path was pretty amazing. There were clouds in the sky and at one point there was a huge rainbow over Burbank. If you looked really closely for a while there was a faint second rainbow. Then when the sun actually set the sky was a fire with colors. Now, I'll admit that I've pushed the colors in this photograph, but I think it helps capture the feeling of the spectacular sunset this evening. These power lines made for an interesting silhouette against the stunning colors. It was something I saw today.

Day 105 - Boysen Plaza Telephone Booth - 09.03.11
On the corner of Magnolia and Hollywood Way there is a cool British style telephone booth. It is along a little strip or buildings called Boysen Plaza. It has been there for as long as I've lived here and I've always wanted to stop and take a closer look. Today I did just that. I was happy to discover that inside that not only is it a functioning phone booth, but that inside there is a Charlie Chaplin painting and a funny little placard. I took close up photos of those as well so you can check out the detail. Just click on the links above. This view is looking down the street and I did some processing to make it feel a little vintage and retro. I really like the way it turned out. It was something I saw today.

Day 104 - Disturbing Cycling Statue - 09.02.11
Went for a walk this evening along the Chandler Bike path. I noticed this statue a while back and decided to capture it in a photo. I think it is a very disturbing statue for a couple reasons. 1. the girl's face just looks creepy. 2. It appears that the dad is trying to push the girl over. It was something I saw today.
