Day 712 - Astro Orbitor - 05.02.13

Today my wife and I went to Disneyland to perform one big experiment.  How many rides could we ride in one day if we followed a few simple rules?  We would go ride to ride in order of how we came across them in the park.  We wouldn't skip rides even if we didn't like them.  All of this we had to do within the limited park hours for the day 10AM - 8PM.  For the most part we kept to this.  There were a few exceptions.  We had planned on taking the train from Toon Town to New Orleans Square so we could go from Toon Town to Critter Country, but the New Orleans Square station was closed.  So we did ride the train, but we got off in Tomorrowland and walked to Critter Country.  We skipped all the Tomorrowland rides because we had already ridden them earlier in the day.  Also once we got to Critter Country we decided to get a Fast Pass for Splash Mountain instead of riding it then.  That meant we did Winnie The Pooh and the rides over in that area and had to return later in the evening.  This sort of criss crossing the park is what we were mostly trying to avoid, but I think in the end we probably saved 25-30 minutes because even we the walking back and forth we probably only spent 30 minutes walking to the ride, waiting in line and then riding the attraction.  If we had waited in line the first time we were there we would have been in for at least an hour.

For fun I logged our times all day long.  I marked down the minute we got in a line and the minute we got off the ride.  I'm including that log so you can see how well we did.  Of the open attractions we rode on everything except Indiana Jones.  Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Canoes, The Columbia and Space Mountain were closed.  We also did not ride any of the cars, buses or trolley on Main Street USA, because they weren't running when we walked in the park in the morning and we didn't go back to Main Street USA until we left at night, and they weren't running then.  All said and done we rode 27 rides.  Here is the breakdown with notes about weird things that happened on the rides.

The photo above is of my wife on the Astro Orbitor.  We both basically hate the ride, but today we gritted our teeth, smiled and road it.  This picture of her riding behind me is something I saw today.
