Day 894 - Hellboy Pumpkin - 10.31.13

Every year at work there are Halloween festivities.  There are decorations, crafts, a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest.  This Hellboy pumpkin was one of my favorites.  It was something I saw today.

Day 893 - Disney Concert Hall - 08.30.13

Today I had to go to downtown LA for jury duty.  I parked in the Disney Concert hall.  At lunch I walked around the area and took photos.  This is part of the Disney Concert Hall architecture.  It was something I saw today.

Day 892 - The Blues Brothers Soundtrack 8-Track - 10.29.13

This was a great soundtrack to cruise around to.  The Peter Gunn theme is just classic.  This was something I saw today.

Day 891 - Rush "Moving Pictures" 8-Track - 10.28.13

Today brings us another classic album from the box of 8-tracks.  Just to get me in the mood of writing this blurb, I've put Moving Pictures on the turntable.  Red Barchetta is echoing though the house.  Timeless.  So this is something I saw today.

Day 890 - Black Sabbath "Paranoid" 8-Track - 10.27.13

Today I dipped again into my box of 8-tracks and this time I came up Paranoid.  Oh the days of cruising around in my father's Lincoln Continental with Sabbath on the stereo.  Good times.  Good times.  This 8-track was something I saw today.

Day 889 - Permanent Waves 8-Track - 10.26.13

I was in my garage this afternoon and saw a box of old 8-tracks from my youth.  Obviously from my youth I should say.  I thought these old tapes will make for good subjects over the upcoming weeks so I brought the box in.  This is the first tape, Rush's "Permanent Waves."  I have this album on 8-track, vinyl and CD.  It may be my favorite Rush album.  It was something I saw today.

Day 888 - Hanging Jack-O-Lantern - 10.25.13

I like finding interesting places for decorations.  I was proud of myself for hanging this jack-o-lantern on a hall lamp.  It was something I saw today.

Day 887 - Fahrenheit 399 Patch - 10.24.13

This evening was the grand opening of the Fahrenheit 3000 lounge and bar at work.  The guys who through it all together did a great job decorating.  There is even a mannequin dressed in a fire suit and on that is this patch.  It is a take on the fire department badges from Fahrenheit 451 with the twist of using 399 which is a nod to the old bar.  That is what this is in this photo and was something I saw today.

Day 886 - Mystifying Mints - 10.23.13

Back to the Halloween candy that I bought last weekend.  I bought these for the tin.  The mints are just mints, but the Ouija theme tin I thought was pretty cool.  We have this out as a Halloween decoration.  It was something I saw today.

Day 885 - Moon Over The House - 10.22.13

I took this photo before getting into the car this morning.  I liked seeing the moon over my house.  It was something I saw today.

Day 884 - Vampire Chocolate - 10.21.13

This candy bar is another purchase from this past weekend.  Picked this up at Cost Plus World Market.  It was something I saw today.

Day 883 - Candy Corn Jack-O-Lantern - 10.20.13

Here is yet another Halloween decoration from our house.  This candy corn jack-o-lantern is actually a candle holder.  He looks great when lit up.  He was something I saw today.

Day 882 - Wind Up Dracula - 10.19.13

This morning my wife and I did a little shopping and I picked up this cute Dracula wind up toy.  It was something I saw today.

Day 881 - Trick Or Treat - 10.18.13

Here is another one of our Halloween decorations.  This is on the front of our house.  To be honest it is kind of small and pathetic on the big wall and it looks a little lonely.  It was something I saw today.

Day 880 - Black Cat - 10.17.13

I took another picture this morning as I was heading out for the morning of one of our Halloween decorations.  The sun was just coming up and hitting this black cat decoration on our porch.  It was something I saw today.

Day 878 - Pumpkinhead - 10.15.13

This past weekend we got out the Halloween decorations.  This pumpkinhead dude is in our front room by the front window.  I think he's great.  He was something I saw today.

Day 877 - Franken Berry - 10.14.13

It was a long day at work today.  It was actually dark by the time I got home and so I reached for one of the cereals by our front door for a photo.  Here is another of the Target exclusive monster cereals.  This Franken Berry is something I saw today.

Day 875 - Galpin Ford - 10.12.13

This morning we drove over to Galpin Ford to eat at the Horseless Carriage restaurant.  I had a yummy omelet.  This is the menu from which I ordered.  It was something I saw today.

Day 874 - Frute Brute - 10.11.13

When I got home from work this evening I found this amazing gift on my desk.  A new box of Frute Brute that my wife picked up at the grocery store today.  I'm so happy to add this to the collection.  It was something I saw today.

Day 873 - Boo Berry - 10.10.13

This is another one of the Monster cereals I bought at Target this week.  I can't say too much how much I love this old packaging.  It is a great addition to my cereal collection.  It was something I saw today.

Day 872 - Billy Baloney - 10.09.13

This Billy Baloney puppet was another find at the swap meet this last weekend.  Billy completes our set of Pee Wee Herman Show puppets.  We have Billy out on a ledge near our front door so you see him just as you enter our house.  He was something I saw today.

Day 871 - Fruity Yummy Mummy Target Exclusive Retro Package - 10.08.13

Today I discovered that this year Target is carrying Monster Cereals and even better, they have exclusive retro packaging.  So after work I drove over and picked up 4 of the 5 kinds that there are.  I got Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry and Fruity Yummy Mummy.  The 5th kind of cereal that they did not have in stock is Fruit Brute which is werewolf themed.  I'll be going back regularly in hopes that they get some in stock.  I actually talked to the manager who said that they should get some in stock.  I hope he didn't lie.  Well Yummy Mummy has not been on the market since 1993, so this is pretty cool.  Fruit Brute hasn't been around since 1984.  Interesting stuff.  So I bought my cereals and brought them home to discover that my wife also went to Target and picked up the four cereals as well.  So we're stocked up.  So this retro box of cereal was something I saw today.

Day 870 - Northwest Park Plaque - 10.07.13

This evening after work I swung by Northwest Park near my house.  I parked in the first open parking space, which was right next to this plaque.  So I took this photo and did not have to wander through the park looking for a photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 869 - No Empathy "Freedom Of Flesh" - 10.06.13

Today I was at the Pasadena City College flea market and I found a record by No Empathy.  This was a band from Chicago from back in the day.  The drummer Kurt was a good skateboard friend and a member of Team SAP.  Steve Gallup who played bass went to school with me and hung around the same circle of friends.  I saw these guys many times as a kid.  It was very cool finding this record, which I didn't own.  So I bought it and brought it home for this photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 868 - Snow Rehearsal - 10.05.13

This afternoon I went to my daughter's Nutcracker rehearsal to take some photographs.  This is the snowflakes rehearsing.  My daughter is off to the side because she is going to be Snow Queen.  She is waiting for her cue.    This is something I saw today.

Day 867 - The Time Lord - 10.04.13

This church on the corner or Clark and Buena Vista usually has a good sense of humor when it comes to their signs.  Given my love of Doctor Who I could not pass up stopping and taking a snap of this week's sign.  It should be noted that the same church has a funny video on YouTube.  Check it out here.  They also had a rather entertaining service on Oscar Sunday that shouldn't be missed.  You can see that here. So this was something I saw today.

Day 866 - UPS Truck - 10.03.13

I got home after the sun was going down, but UPS was still out delivering packages.  I took this photo as the UPS passed my car.  It was something I saw today.

Day 865 - Winning Plane - 10.02.13

At work this afternoon we had an art festival.  Along with artists selling their work there was a contest with balsa wood planes.  People decorated the planes and then there was a contest to see whose plane flew the farthest.  This is my friend Bret and his winning plane.

Day 864 - Fruity Yummy Mummy - 10.01.13

It is October, which means Halloween season.  My wife picked this cereal up at the store today to add to my cereal collection.  Neither she nor I have ever seen these before.  I have no idea if they are good, but I love the packaging.  It was something I saw today.
