Day 1782 - Fixing A Shoe - 04.08.16

This evening was the dress rehearsal for my daughter's dance school Spring Gala.  She didn't actually rehearse because she has an injury.  This is one of her friends fixing up her point shoe.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1781 - Carney's - 04.07.16

This evening I met an old friend at Carney's.  I had never been there before, but have always wanted to go.  Good burger and fry joint.  This is the exterior just after sunset.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1780 - Flowers - 04.06.16

This is a flower on one of the tables outside on the balcony at work.  Today was a bit of a cloudy day and I thought this black and white treatment along with the way the flowers hung down made for a moody picture.  This is something I saw today.

Someone dumped a bunch of banana boxes in the alley next to my house.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1777 - DVD's - 04.03.16

These are DVDs I mostly picked up at thrifts stores this past year and I have not pulled them out of their bulky cases yet.  Most of my DVDs are in paper slip cases in boxes.  Last night the family and I were looking for a movie to watch.  I ended up taking out these DVDs during the search and left them on a table next to the TV.  They were still out this morning.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1776 - Descendents "I Don't Want To Grow Up" - 04.02.16

A little while back I had a great evening with my son listening to records.  While we were listening to some old punk records I finally put my punk records in alphabetical order.  It was the only section of records that I never alphabetized.  While alphabetizing I pulled out some records to listen to and this Descendents record was one of them.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1772 - Alligator and Dark Age - 03.29.16

Tonight I saw Alligator and Dark Age, an alligator movie and a crocodile movie.  I took this photo this morning on the way to work.  Both movies were great.  The theater was sold out so the audience was great reacting to the comedy, violence and gore.  It was a good time.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1771 - Rust Colored Building - 03.28.16

This building had a complete makeover this last year.  The new look was a rust colored exterior.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1770 - Bowie and The Spiders From Mars Last Stand - 03.27.16

This last week my son showed me this Bowie record that he picked up the day before he died.  It is a live bootleg from 1973.  Jeff Beck plays on it which is pretty cool.  I digitized the record this afternoon.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1763 - White Rabbit Egg - 03.20.16

Today we went to Disneyland and California Adventure.  My wife and I didn't really go on many rides, but instead spent our day doing the 3 Easter Egg hunts.  There was one for California Adventure, one for Disneyland and one for Downtown Disney.  This is the White Rabbit Egg we found in California Adventure near Radiator Springs.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1762 - Madagascar Cereal - 03.19.16

It finally happened.  There is a Madagascar cereal.  I worked on the first two of these movies so I do have some personal connection with the franchise.  So I was pretty excited to add this to my collection.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1761 - Ian McCulloch "Faith And Healing" - 03.18.16

Last night I stopped in at Amoeba records to pick up the Turbo Kid soundtrack.  While there I thumbed through some new arrivals and found this Ian McCulloch 12 inch.  This song was from his first solo record Candleland, which I love.  That record came out during the first year that I owned a CD player.  So it got a lot of play because my CD collection was quite small at the time.  Seems like I don't hear much talk about that record anymore, but it is a real gem.  I also saw Ian on the tour for that record.  My wife (then girlfriend) sat on the stage for the show.  He played a little venue that traditionally had been a country and western place.  There were only a couple hundred people at the show.  It was a great intimate show.  Still can't believe that happened.  Anyway, I picked up this 12 inch which I hadn't seen before and it was something I saw today.

Day 1760 - The Jungle Book - 03.17.16

Recently I watched the Jungle Book trailer and so I have been getting excited for the upcoming movie.  This morning I pulled this record out and listened to side one before heading out to work.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1759 - Moon Over Work - 03.16.16

I stepped out onto a balcony at work this afternoon to look for a photo to take.  I looked up and saw the moon directly overhead.  I lined up this shot with the walls of the building and thought it came out pretty interesting.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1758 - Batman Vs Superman - 03.15.16

All of the billboards on the walls of Warner Brothers have been switched out to be Batman Vs Superman.  This is one of the billboards.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1757 - Wilshire and La Brea - 03.14.16

On the corner of Wilshire and La Brea there has been construction for a new subway stop.  I took this photo tonight at that corner while stopped in traffic. This is something I saw today.

Day 1756 - T-Bone Steak - 03.13.16

For dinner tonight I made steak tacos with some great meat from Vallarta.  I also grilled up this t-bone for my daughter who isn't into tacos.  Silly girl.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1755 - Law Mowing - 03.12.16

My son was mowing the lawn today and the lawn mower just stopped working.  I stepped out and snapped this photo as he was trying to figure out what happened.  We never did figure it out.  Seems to be some electrical problem.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1754 - Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel "Love's A Prima Donna" - 03.11.16

Yet another record I picked up recently.  The Goodwill has been good to me recently.  I knew this band from an friend I worked with in the past.  I had heard a couple songs and knew they were part of the whole glam rock scene of the 70's.  So I knew I'd be into the record.  It is pretty good.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1753 - "Frig-O-Rator" by Roq-In' Zoo - 03.10.16

When I saw this novelty record at the Goodwill recently I couldn't pass it up.  I am not a football fan, but being from Chicago I did watch the Bears back when they won the Superbowl in the 80's and of course was very aware of William "The Refrigerator" Perry.  The record is a cheeseball rap record, but still lots of fun.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1749 - The Alarm "Declaration" - 03.06.16

Recently I picked up the first three records by The Alarm.  For some reason The Alarm have escaped me for all these years.  Sure I knew of The Alarm and when I put the record on I knew the track "68 Guns", but I had never listened to their records.  I have to say I love them.  I can't believe I've gone this long without enjoying them.  This is "Declaration" their first record from 1984.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1744 - Sam Butera "Apache!" - 03.01.16

This is one of the records I picked up yesterday.  I know the name Sam Butera because he is on a bunch of the Ultra Lounge records from the 90's.  I was a big fan of that series and have most of them.  I also know his name as the band that backed up Louis Prima, who is a favorite.  I took this photo this morning, but this evening when I got home from work I was able to throw it on the turntable.  It was fantastic music and the record was surprisingly clean.  This is something I saw today.
