Day 2658 - Mister Dog - 08.31.18

We found this book in Utah when we were record hunting.  We bought a few children's books.  This one is a standout.  It is a bout a dog who finds a young boy and brings him home to live with him.  And yes, he smokes a pipe.  It is amazing.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2657 - Linda Clifford "If My Friends Could See Me Now" - 08.30.18

Just last week I listened to an interview with Linda Clifford on The Hustle Podcast.  She was a fascinating lady and she wasn't really on my radar.  I have the Fame soundtrack and so after the interview I listened to her track on that record and then I even looked up her records and was thinking and picking them up on the internet.  But then this past weekend in Utah I actually found one of her records for 50 cents.  The timing was crazy.  I probably would have passed right over this record if I had not listened to that interview.  In the background of this photo you can see the stack of records I picked up.  That is Tracey Ullman on top.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2656 - Seven Magic Mountains - 08.29.18

We drove back home to Burbank.  We stopped at the Seven Magic Mountains outside of Vegas.  I took a series of photos.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2655 - A Rose in A Field - 08.28.18

We had a full day today.  My wife and I started the day off eating at the Sidecar Cafe.  It was a little cafe attached to a motorcycle museum.  The museum was cool, but the food was outstanding.  Then we visited thrift stores and a record store on the hunt for records most of the day.  We went to Deseret Industries and found some gems.  Then we went to an antique mall and found some more gold.  We then went to a record story in Orem and I found some super amazing records there.  I found Escape From New York for a couple bucks.  I nearly had a heart attack.  I love finding soundtracks outside of Los Angeles.  One the way back to my cousin's house we stopped by this golden field of grass and took some photos of my daughter.  She and I have been talking for years about doing photos in a golden field of grass so when we saw this we knew we had to take some photos.  I think this one came out pretty good.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2654 - One Time In Provo - 08.27.18

Today while my daughter was dancing my wife and I walked around downtown Provo.  We pretty much were just see what remained from when we lived there 21 years ago and what was new.  There was a lot of new things, but there were still a few things that remained from the old days.  In the evening we ate at the Bombay House and it was just as amazing as we remembered.  It was definitely a highlight of the day.  This is a mural downtown.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2653 - View From My Cousin's - 08.26.18

We are staying at my cousin's house in Provo.  This morning we went to church with his family and then in the afternoon we jung out, watched the Cubs and told stories.  My other cousins came over so we laughed a lot telling family stories.  This is a view looking down onto Provo from his house.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2652 - Eddie World - 08.25.18

Today we drove to Provo.  Along the way we stopped at Eddie World.  I am a sucker for roadside attractions so I couldn't pass up stopping at a giant ice cream sundae.  My wife and I loved this place.  Our biggest take away was that they had the best bathrooms.  It is going to be a must stop for us any time we travel that way.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2651 - Joey Dosik at the Troubadour - 08.24.18

Tonight my wife and I saw Joey Dosik at the Troubadour.  He was amazing and we had a lot of fun right up until the end when my wife got light headed and fainted.  He fainted during the encore and I held her up.  She had not eaten and was dehydrated.  She came to and we were sort of stuck up against the stage.  When the show finished and people were leaving she fainted again and that time she slid all the way to the ground.  It was pretty scary.  She scraped her back and bumped her head.  Kind of a crazy night.  But the evening all started here outside the Troubadour and this is something I saw today.

Day 2650 - Joey Dosik "Inside Voice (Stripped Mix)" flexi-disc - 08.23.18

Yesterday I got Joey Dosik's latest record and it came with a flexi-disc for Inside Voice.  It is a stripped down mix.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2647 - Ms. Pac-Man - 08.20.18

My son bought this Ms. Pac-Man game for my wife for her birthday.  She has been playing it.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2646 - Fire Alarm - 08.19.18

Day 2645 - Eggs and Waffles Breakfast - 08.18.18

Today we started the day by going to the Waffle Haus in Studio City.  Then this evening we went to Clifton's.  We were going to have dinner there, but the cafeteria was being remodeled.  So we had some appetizers there and then walked over to Cole's for a French Dip sandwich.  The French dip was pretty great, but the biggest highlight was probably the churro waffle we had for desert.  My wife and I had my son and his fiancee with us for the evening.  It was a great night out.

Day 2644 - Aretha Franklin "Soul 69" - 08.17.18

Aretha Franklin passed yesterday.  Today I brought this record in to work so that we could listen and remember the Queen of Soul.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2643 - Isaac Hayes "Juicy Fruit" - 08.16.18

This record jacket kills me.  Isaac certainly had a style.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2642 - Costco in Manhattan Beach - 08.15.18

I stopped for gas at the Manhattan Beach Costco this morning.  This is the store before it opened.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2641 - Rose's Last Morning At Home - 08.14.18

My daughter flew off to BYU today.  She has left for school early for a dance audition.  She is just going to stay there until school starts in a couple weeks.  This is her before I left for work.  She had just gotten up.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2640 - Wetwood Smokes "Jojo" - 08.13.18

This band Wetwood Smokes opened for the Pixies the other night.  I liked them a lot and picked up several of their CDs.  This is one of them.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2639 - Sanyare The Heir Apparent - 08.12.18

This is a book my wife bought at Wonder-Con this past year.  It was on the coffee table and so I decided to photograph it today.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2638 - Pixies Concert T-Shirt - 08.11.18

I actually bought this shirt at the Weezer concert and not last night.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2637 - Pixies at the House Of Blues - 08.10.18

Tonight we saw the Pixies at the House of Blues in Anaheim.  They were fantastic.  This was definitely a better venue for them and their music.  The crowd was awesome dancing and jumping around.  I was right up front and had a blast.  This is Frank Black. 

I had to leave work early to get to the concert and then after the concert I had to go back to work to approve timecards.  The concert got out around midnight and so I didn't get back to work until about 1 AM.  I stopped at a Subway in Buena Park on the way back to Manhattan Beach.  I did timecards until about 3AM and didn't get home until about 3:30.  It was a long but glorious day.

Day 2635 - Weezer - 08.08.18

Tonight we went and saw Weezer at the Forum.  The concert was great.  We had some pretty great seats.  The opening band was Sleigh Bells.  Next up were Pixies and that was pretty good and finally Weezer who played nothing but hit after hit after hit.  It was a great night.  This is something I saw today.
