Day 2443 - Circus Liquor on a Sunday Morning - 01.28.18

Day 2442 - Vibrant Sunrise - 01.27.18

I woke up around 3AM this morning.  I caught up on some work and TV shows.  So I was awake for this morning's sunrise.  The colors were great.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2441 - Sunrise over Apartment Building - 01.26.18

Day 2440 - Vampire Wind Up Toys - 01.25.18

Here are a couple vampire toys on my record shelf.  I set up a photo of the soundtrack to "The Ipcress File", but after I took the photo, I thought that perhaps I had already taken a photo of that album recently, and as it turns out I have.  So I took this photo of the toys above the record.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2437 - Marvin Gaye "Midnight Love" - 01.22.18

Yesterday I watched a documentary called "808" which was about the Roland 808 machine.  It was a great documentary and after watching it I listened to a few classic tracks that were featured in the documentary.  One was Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Hearing" which is on this record "Midnight Love."  I also listened to Paul Revere by the Beastie Boys off of "License To Ill."  I decided to take a photo of the Marvin Gaye record this morning since it was still out.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2436 - Christmas Owl Bag In The Morning - 01.21.18

This is a bag from Christmas that is my daughter's.  It has been on our coffee table for a while.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2435 - Roscoe's Chicken N Waffles - 01.20.17

Tonight we were tired and wanted to go out to eat.  We didn't know where we wanted to go, but then my daughter had the great idea to go to Roscoe's.  Good choice.  We had not been there in quite a long time.  As usual it was amazing and we had a nice night chatting and eating.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2434 - Tom Waits "Heartattack And Vine" - 01.19.18

This is the third Tom Waits record I picked up recently.  I love it.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2433 - Tom Waits "Foreign Affairs" - 01.18.18

I still can't believe I was able to pick up three Tom Waits records for three bucks a piece in Arizona.  This is "Foreign Affairs" is something I saw today.

Day 2432 - "Anatomy Of A Murder" Soundtrack - 01.17.18

This is an amazing and classic soundtrack to Otto Preminger's "Anatomy Of A Murder."  A few weeks back I posted a photo of "I Want to Live" and in my reading about that soundtrack it was noted that that was the first Jazz score and that it opened to door to other films such as "Anatomy Of A Murder" to use a jazz score.  This one is by Duke Ellington.  It doesn't get much better than that.  The cover of this record also has the great artwork of Saul Bass.  I love it.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2431 - Bird At Sunrise - 01.16.18

This morning the sunrise was beautiful and there was this bird on the street light in front of my house enjoying the view.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2430 - The Butterfield Blues Band "The Resurrection Of Pigboy Crabshaw" - 01.15.18

I picked up this Paul Butterfield record over the break and I listened to it this past weekend.  It was fantastic and made me go to my shelf to see what other Butterfield records I had.  I had one other one and I gave that a spin as well.  I have now gone down the Paul Butterfield rabbit hole doing a bunch of reading and downloading a bunch of music.  I have not had a chance to listen to it all yet, but hope to get it on my iPod soon so I can start making my way through the catalog.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2429 - Fiery Sunrise - 01.14.18

The sunrise this morning was quite stunning.  The way the sun raked over the clouds it looks like fire in the sky.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2428 - Hefti In Gotham City - 01.13.18

This Neal Hefti record is another record from my Arizona haul.  The tracks are fun, but I honestly was expecting them to sound more Batman like or that I would recognize some of them.  I really didn't.  That isn't a bad thing, but was just a surprise.  I gave this record a listen today and this is something I saw today.

Day 2427 - "Once Upon A Time In America" Soundtrack - 01.12.18

Ennio Morricone is one of my favorite composers if not absolute favorite.  I found this soundtrack to Sergio Leone's epic "Once Upon A Time In America" in Arizona.  I feel compelled to buy Morricone soundtracks whenever I find them and they aren't unbearably over priced.  Finding Morricone records for a reasonable price is not something that happens very often, so when it does I have to buy it.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2424 - The Original Music From ABC-TV's Dark Shadows - 01.09.18

This soundtrack from "Dark Shadows" is one more of the great finds from this past holiday.  I have a bunch of Dark Shadows music digitally, but it was nice finding this on vinyl.  It still had the poster insert Barnabas and Quentin.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2423 - Blockade Billy - 01.08.18

Over Thanksgiving I saw that my mom had this Stephen King book on her shelf.  It has two King novellas, "Blockade Billy" and "Morality".  I borrowed the book from her then and started it, but it wasn't until this Christmas break from work that I had time to read both stories.  I liked "Blockade Billy", but I really loved "Morality".  This is something I saw today.

Day 2422 - Nate's Birthday Cake - 01.07.18

Though not quite my son's birthday we celebrated his 26th birthday tonight.  He blew all those candles out in one go.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2421 - Punk Rock Singer - 01.06.18

This afternoon we went and watched some roller derby.  My daughter's friend is in a roller derby league and we went to watch her skate.  It was fun.  After the tournament a punk rock band played.  I feel bad that I did not catch their name.  I snapped off a few photos.  This is their photogenic singer.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2420 - Gyu-Kaku - 01.05.18

This afternoon  the family and ate at Gyu-Kaku in downtown Burbank.  The food was yummy, but very expensive.  In the end it felt more like we had a bunch of really good appetizers and when I left I was still hungry.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2419 - Harley Quinn "Vol. 1 Die Laughing" - 01.04.18

The other night at the holiday party we went to there was a white elephant gift exchange.  My wife ended up with a grab bag of comics and this Harley Quinn book was one of them.  I have been reading it this week.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2418 - The Ipcress File - 01.03.18

The soundtrack to "The Ipress File" is a score that I've had a version of for years.  Many years ago an editor gave me a burned CD of the score, but in reality is was more of a bootleg copy ripped from the film.  It had dialogue from the film.  I seemed to remember the editor telling me that he could never find the score and so this was the next best thing and it was one of his favorites.  So in my mind I thought this was a score that was impossible to find, but then low and behold I found a great copy for three bucks.  It sounds great, much better than the version I have had for years ripped from the movie.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2417 - Soundtrack to "Night Shift" - 01.02.18

Night Shift is a film that I had never really watched all the way through until this lat year.  It is pretty funny and I can't believe it took me that long to finally watch it through.  I had seen many scenes and bits and pieces over the years, but never from start to finish.  Great movie.  I found the soundtrack last week in Arizona.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2416 - Abandoned Scout Camp Late Afternoon - 01.01.18

For the new year my daughter and I hiked up Stough Canyon to the abandoned scout camp.  The mountain had burned this past summer and so the landscape was quite alien with everything having been burned away.  There was lots of ash still everywhere.  This is a look back at one of the remaining structures from an old building in the late afternoon as the sun was starting to lower behind the clouds.  This is something I saw today.
