Day 2229 - Captain America #294 - 06.28.17
I was home from work yesterday and today. I have been reading a lot of comic books. You can only watch TV so long when you've got a headache. I haven't caught up to reading this issue yet. I have been focusing on the Incredible Hulk Issues and a Swamp Thing volume I have from the Alan Moore run. It is funny how good that run is, especially when I compare it to some of these other run of the mill super hero comics I have been reading from the 80's. I have been enjoying them, thinking they are fun, but oh man when you get into Swamp Thing it is a whole new level. I love them. Anyway, I kept it easy today and just photographed this issue of Captain America. This is something I saw today.

Day 2227 - The Incredible Hulk #410 - 06.26.17
I am getting to the end of the Hulk comics that I bought a few months back. You can tell by the style and the price tag that I was starting to get into the 90's and I sort of stopped picking up comics too far into the 90's unless I know for sure there is a good story line to read. I stick mostly to the 70's and 80's for these dollar comics. This Hulk comic is something I saw today.

Day 2226 - Location Scout at the Pasadena City Hall - 06.25.17
This afternoon, my wife, daughter and I drove over to the Pasadena City Hall to shoot some test photos as a location scout. My daughter wants to take photos there and so we went this afternoon to check out the light and different angles and places we could shoot. I thought this setting with the back light was great. This is something I saw today.

Day 2225 - Cocoa Pebbles - 06.24.17
It is sort of ironic that I have a cereal collection that was predicated on buying cereals of cartoon characters and not until this weekend did I finally buy a box of Cocoa Pebbles. Fruity Pebble and Cocoa Pebbles are sort of the grand daddy cartoon cereals. Now I have a box of Cocoa Pebbles because I had a coupon. I still need to buy Fruity Pebbles at some point. This is something I saw today.

This is one of two books my wife picked up this past weekend at Dark Delicacies here in Burbank. She likes the scary stories. At some point I think I'll read some of the book as well. This afternoon/evening I took photos at my daughter's dress rehearsal. I was a little late arriving because it took me almost an hour and forty-five minutes to get there from work mid afternoon. Day 2208 - In Loving Memory Monty Lewis - 06.07.17
I miss the New Beverly. Since starting my new job I have not been able to get back there for any screenings. I still like keeping up with what is playing in hopes that one day I will get back there. This morning I drove by to pick up the June calendar and was saddened to discover that one of the regulars, Monty Lewis, who I had spoken to several times had passed away. There was this memorial in front of the theater for him. Monty was a fixture at the New Beverly and anyone who frequented the theater knew who he was. He had an amazing knowledge of film and spoke passionately about them all. He seemed to be going to the movies almost every night. He was at the New Bev several nights a week and I know he talked about seeing films at the American Cinematheque and Cinefamily. He lived for movies. It is sad that he is gone. This is something I saw today.

Day 2207 - Amy Winehouse "Back To Black" - 06.06.17
Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" is a masterpiece record. I have loved it since I first heard it back in the day. I have had this on my list of vinyl records to pick up for at least that last six months when I started seeing it in stores. This is a record that has such a retro feel to it that is seems perfect for the vinyl format. The funny thing is that I doubt it was recorded in analog. Be that as it may, it just seems like it is the type of music that should be spun on a turntable.
I gave it a listen this weekend. It is strange how since I watched the "Amy" documentary last year, I have a whole new feeling when I listen to "Rehab". The song now is tragic to me. The line about my her father saying she doesn't have to go, which at one time seemed rebellious or defiant, not seems sad and tragic knowing the full backstory. The poor girl was surrounded my horrible men who exploited her and the fact that even her father was essentially a monster who cared not that his daughter needed help, but cared only about how he could make money off her. I'll never listen to the song in the same way again. This is something I saw today.

Day 2206 - Harry Stiles On Vinyl - 06.05.17
I picked up this Harry Stiles record initially for my daughter because she has been raving about it. So I bought it for her this last weekend. I know she'll probably rarely listen to this on vinyl, but it came with a download, which she will listen to. Ironically, one of the tracks on the download failed and I couldn't recover it so I had to go to torrent to get the track so that she had the complete record. I find that funny. The record is actually a great piece of Brit Pop. I have listened to is a couple times now and I am very pleased with the purchase. This is something I saw today.

Day 2205 - The Twin Peaks Soundtrack - 06.04.17
I have been loving the new season of Twin Peaks. I have been in love with the show for years and I really love Angelo Badalamenti's music. I have the soundtrack digitally, but I have been wanting to pick up this re-issue on vinyl since it came out this last year. I finally picked it up this weekend. It sounds warm and wonderful. This is something I saw today.
