This is another ornament on our Christmas tree.  We have stuck with ornaments that look more crafty and traditional this year.  So there are no licensed ornaments from movies or pop culture.  This is something I saw today.

This morning I headed over to the Mormon temple in Gilbert for some photos with my wife and daughter.  This was a brief moment of cool colors before the sun ducked behind the clouds and the morning became a dull grey morning.  This is something I saw today.

Today was Thanksgiving and we were at my parent's house.  Before company came over and we ate, my daughter and I stepped out into the backyard for a quick photo shoot.  My daughter wanted some portraits.  This one I think came out really cute.  This is something I saw today.

Day 2000 - "King For A Day" - 11.11.16

Wow, 2000 days of photos.  That is a benchmark.  Given the results of the election this week a lot of thought and reading has been focused on what to do now.  How do we as a country make sure we don't go even further off the rails.  I read an amazing article about tyranny and the safe guards we have to keep in place to avoid it.  Unfortunately many are blindly leading us down that path.  I am keeping a positive attitude that we will overcome and avoid giving away our freedoms.  So in light of all that thought and the hope that we avoid a king or dictator situation, I thought this record was sort of appropriate.  Let's avoid giving any one person the wish of being king for even a day, because that is all it takes to start down a slippery slope.  Let's keep the checks and balances firmly in place.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1997 - Weird Van - 11.08.16

This weird van was parked in front of my house this morning.  When I was taking photos of it this very concerned older couple approached me and asked me if I had noticed the van before.  I had never seen it.  They were very concerned saying they had seen it before and that thought it was a homeless person who scavenged through the trash.  They were very upset that the van had parked in our neighborhood.  I didn't know what they were hoping to accomplish.  Maybe they were hoping I was documenting some bad behavior or was going to use the photos to complain to the police.  Of course I wasn't.  They sort of made me laugh because they seemed like the nosey neighbor from a 1950's sitcom, but were too afraid to do something about their own fears of what they perceive as a bad element.  Sort of funny.  But it is also sort of sad and represents so much of what has been going on in our country, people being afraid of something or someone that is different.  This set the tone for a very surreal day because today was the presidential election and somehow our weird country just voted in an embarrassment.  Seems like a fitting end to an embarrassing year of a political circus with each candidate trying to out do each other for being worse.  So election aside, this is something I saw today.

Day 1996 - Frankenbutler Inside - 11.07.16

The Halloween decorations where taken down this weekend.  The Frankenbutler was brought in from the porch, but remains to be put away.  He is just now in our entry way.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1995 - Fight Scene - 11.06.16

I spent a bunch of time at the dance studio this morning.  This is rehearsal for all the mice and the mouse queen and the eventual fight with the soldiers and nutcracker.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1994 - Pasadena City Hall - 11.05.16

This morning the family and I drove over to Pasadena to pick up some new glasses.  We stopped at the city hall building to take a few photos.  My daughter is a huge "Parks and Recreation" fan and didn't realize the city hall was right in Pasadena.  This is something I saw today.

Tonight when I got home from work it just felt like I needed a little Led Zeppelin II action.  So I gave side 2 a spin.  Ah the classics.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1991 - The Chicago Cubs World Series Champions! - 11.02.16

Tonight was amazing as history was made.  The Cubs won the world series in a truly dramatic fashion in the 10th inning of game 7 of the World Series.  The game was fantastic with everything you could ever want in a game.  Hitting, pitching, errors, home runs, rain and a broken curse.  I'm so happy for all of the Cubs fans out there and I teared up as I watched the celebrations of pure joy post game.  What a night.  This is Anthony Rizzo moments after the victory.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1990 - The King Khan and BBQ Show at the El Rey - 11.01.16

I wish I was writing that I went and saw The King Khan and BBQ Show tonight.  Unfortunately, I didn't, but I did walk down to the El Rey this afternoon to discover they were in town.  I walked back to my car grabbed a camera and returned for this photo.  This evening I was supposed to go to a screening of Doctor Strange, but in the end my wife and I were too exhausted for a night out.  We ended up staying at home and watching the Cubs in game 6 of the World Series.  Amazing game.  I am glad I stayed home and watched the Cubs win and even the series to 3-3.  Go Cubs!
