Day 802 - Piglet Toy - 07.31.13

And today it one more toy from this weekend's acquisitions.  He too has been hanging out on the table with Donald.  I took this photo before dinner tonight.  It was something I saw today.

Day 801 - Donald Duck Toy - 07.30.13

This is another little toy I got this past weekend.  He's a wind up toy.  The great thing about him is that he doesn't just quickly hop around and wind down.  He slowly waddles back and forth and goes for at least a minute.  I think he's great.  He's been hanging out on our dining room table.  He was something I saw today.

Day 800 - Sad Jelly Baby - 07.29.13

This past weekend the family and I went to Buchanan Arms which is an English Pub/Restaurant.  They have a little store that sells English foods and such.  I had been in there before and because I am a huge Doctor Who fan every time I have looked for Jelly Babies.  I never got my hopes too high, because I knew that in the past it was illegal to import Jelly Babies because the FDA had a problem with one of the food dyes.  Well I was super excited when we went in there this time and found boxes and boxes of Jelly Babies.  I had to buy two packages.  This evening after dinner I opened the first bag and took some photos before munching a few down.  Yum.  I love the ones that look like they are crying.  I have featured such a sad Jelly Baby here.  It was something I saw today.

Day 799 - Lumiere and Cogsworth - 07.28.13

This afternoon I dropped my daughter off at dance camp in Orange County.  On the way home my wife and I stopped at downtown Disney to get a drink at Trader Sams.  We also walked around a bit.  I took this photo of Luniere and Cogsworth in front of the Lego store.  It was something I saw today.

Day 798 - Big Boy - 07.27.13

I came into possession of this great little toy today.  He is going on my shelf with other little bendable toys such as Gumby and Homer.  He was something I saw today.

Day 797 - Table and Chairs - 07.26.13

I'm pretty sure I have taken several similar pictures in the past at work.  Well it was Friday evening and I just wanted to get home to the old family so I didn't mind recycling old territory.  This table and chairs is near the Starbucks at work.  It was something I saw today.

Day 796 - Mullen Deck - 07.25.13

My friend at work recently bought this Rodney Mullen skateboard deck re-issue.  He has it hanging on the wall outside his office. While walking out this evening I thought I would snap a photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 794 - Fountain - 07.23.13

This morning when walking into work I noticed how the sun was just hitting the light on the fountain, but hadn't quite come up enough to hit the trees along the walkway.  I thought it was interesting and so I stopped to take a photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 793 - Kang - 07.22.13

This afternoon I took some pictures of one of my friends at work.  After taking the photo I took a photo of his Kang statue on his desk.  It was something I saw today.

Day 792 - One Toe - 07.21.13

Today we returned to Brand Park with my daughter for a photo shoot.  We got several really good photos which made it very difficult to choose just one for this blog.  I settled on this one.  It was something I saw today.

Day 791 - Bridesmaids - 07.20.13

Today my wife and I decided to drive deep into the Valley to do a sort of location scout.  I had the idea of looking around the city of San Fernando and the San Fernando mission for interesting locations to shoot dance photos.  We walked around downtown San Fernando.  We found a great Mexican restaurant named El Abeulo that had amazing homemade tortillas.  After that we drove over to Mission Hills and the Sand Fernando Mission.  There wasn't anything that interesting at the mission, but across the street is Brand Park which was really beautiful.  I clearly wasn't the only one who thought this.  There must have been 10-15 different wedding parties or quinceaneras doing photo shoots in the park.  We walked around and took photos of the various locations at the park.  I will definitely return there.  I thought the view down this pathway was cool.  I love the play of light and dark.  At the end of the path you can see what I am assuming are bridesmaids getting their photos taken.  It was something I saw today.

Day 790 - Path at Work - 07.19.13

This morning I walked across campus to take some photos of some co-workers in the education department.  On the way back I was walking down one of the back paths.  I decided to stop and snap a photo of the path as is switched back on this little hill.  It was something I saw today.

Day 789 - Plane at Sunset - 07.18.13

This evening I stayed a little later to watch Turbo.  I got out of the film just as the sun was setting.  I drove to the top of the parking structure just in time to catch the sun dipping behind the ABC building next door.  I also was able to catch this plane taking off from Burbank Airport just as it passed in front of the sun.  Good timing I'd say.  It was something I saw today.

Day 788 - Dos Bros Taco Truck - 07.17.13

At lunch time there was a big celebration for the release of Turbo.  We had a Dos Bros Taco truck there.  It is a taco truck from the movie.  This bit of the engine sticks out of the front with a couple Turbo eyes.  I thought it was cute.  It was something I saw today.

Day 787 - Guest Speaker - 07.16.13

Today at work we had a company update.  We heard about all the exciting new ventures and films coming up.  Personally I was very excited by everything we heard today.  A real highlight was when a surprise guest came to express how much he liked working on Turbo and how much he likes being a part of the DreamWorks Animation family.  I felt really lucky to have been asked to take photos so I could have a choice seat up front.  So this is something I saw today.

Day 786 - Light in the Hedge - 07.15.13

This is a light in one of the path hedges at work.  I took this picture at the end of the day when heading to my car.  It was something I saw today.

Day 784 - Spider - 07.13.13

This spider scepter is from a costume my daughter had for Halloween a couple years ago.  She was a spider queen.  For some reason this was out in in our family room today.  It was something I saw today.

Day 783 - Americana Statue - 07.12.13

This morning before work I swung by the Americana in Glendale to pick up movie tickets for Pacific Rim.  Today with one of my departments we went to see the movie and have lunch.  The movie was a ton of fun.  It was cheesy at times and there were cliches-o-plenty, but the tone of the movie was fun and forgiving.  Everyone in the group had a good time.  I took this photo early in the morning as you may have guessed due to the empty Americana.  This gold statue was something I saw today.

Day 782 - Boba Fett - 07.11.13

I got out another of the classic Star Wars figures this evening for a photo.  This Boba Fett was something I saw today.

Day 781 - Hat on a Vacuum - 07.10.13

I came home this evening and noticed my wife had hung her hat on the vacuum cleaner.  I thought it made for a nice picture.  It was something I saw today.

Day 780 - Record Player Arm - 07.09.13

Last night I set up the record player to digitize some 78s.  I did a couple Jack Guthrie records.  I left the record player set up to continue the work this evening.  This is the record player playing a Bob Wills 78.  It was something I saw today.

Day 779 - Greedo - 07.08.13

After work I dug into my new bag of Star Wars toys for this photo of Greedo.  This Toy was made in 1978 according to the date on his leg.  It was something I saw today.

Day 778 - Palm Springs Marilyn Monroe - 07.07.13

Today we drove home from Gilbert, AZ and we made several detours along the way.  We drove into Palm Springs to check out a statue of Lucille Ball, but were pleasantly surprised to find this giant statue of Marilyn across the street.  While also in Palm Springs we stumbled upon this little neighborhood called El Rancho Vista Estates.  It was a small community made up of Mid-Century Modern houses.  Many of them have been restored and look amazing.  Also on the trip we saw Hobo Joe in Buckeye, AZ, Hi Jolly's tomb in Quartzite AZ, The Wigwam Motel #7 in San Bernadino, CA and Bono's Historic Orange in Fontana, CA.  It was a good day for roadside attractions and this Marilyn was something I saw today.

Day 777 - Owly At Biosphere 2 - 07.06.13

Today we visited Biosphere 2 outside of Tucson, AZ.  I brought Owly along for a picture or two.  It was something I saw today.

Day 776 - Scottsdale Horse - 07.05.13

This morning we headed over to Scottsdale, AZ to see some horse sculptures on the side of the road.  There are five of them.  They are in a flood wash and have been put there to sort of spruce up the place.  Apparently when it does flood, water comes out of their mouths.  So this head is something I saw today.

Day 775 - Heroes - 07.04.13

Today my mother gave me a bag full of Star Wars toys that my brother and I had as children.  I took some photos of course.  It was something I saw today.

Day 774 - Windmill At Sunset - 07.03.13

This afternoon we set out across the desert toward Gilbert, Arizona.  The traffic out of LA was horrible so it took us nearly 4 hours just to get to Palm Springs and the windmills.  We stopped there for some pictures and dinner.  The sunset was beautiful.  This giant windmill was something I saw today.

Day 773 - Suicide, Inc. - 07.02.13

This is one of the books I found next to the dumpster near my house last week.  I haven't started reading it, but I do like the cover.  It was something I saw today.

Day 772 - Layne Crane - 07.01.13

I had to park up a few floors today in the parking garage which meant that when I left I was eye level with this section of the Layne brand crane.  It was something I saw today.
