Day 590 - New Year's Eve Party At Disneyland - 12.31.12

This evening we went to Disneyland for New Year's Eve.  We didn't quite make it to midnight, but we did make it until about 10:30.  The festivities were well on their way by then.  This DJ was rocking the park.  It was something I saw today.

Day 589 - Skipper - 12.30.12

At the end of the day there was an amazing sunset, but I was in my car without a camera while it happened.  By the time I got home, the beauty was gone.  So I resorted to a photo of Skipper on my shelf.  It was something I saw today.

Day 588 - WMET Pin for Chicagofest 1982 - 12.29.12

It was another long day cleaning out the garage.  This meant that I found some more treasures from the past.  WMET was a classic rock radio station in Chicago. I loved this station along with WLUP when I was a kid and was first discovering rock music.  This pin was from Chicagofest 1982.  I think that I saw Joan Jett and the Blachearts at that Chicagofest.  Also saw a bit of Frank Sinatra.  My mother went for Frank.  I saw a bit, but my brother and a friend and I left to catch Joan Jett.  So finding this pin brought back some memories.  It was something I saw today.

Day 587 - George Perez Portfolio - 12.28.12

The family and I spent most of the day in our garage going through boxes seeing what we could throw away, sell at a garage sale or donate to a worthy cause.  During all that digging I came across this set of George Perez prints that fell into my hands a few years back.  It is even signed by George Perez, which is pretty cool.  I brought them into the house because I'm thinking of framing them and displaying them.  There are 12 prints in this collection.  It was something I saw today.

Day 586 - Paper Snowflake - 12.27.12

Back home again today.  It is great to be back home.  This paper snowflake my daughter made before Christmas and is hanging in our front hallway.  It greeted me when I returned home.  It was something I saw today.

Day 585 - Les Miserables Tickets - 12.26.12

Earlier today we went and saw The Hobbit.  Tonight we are going to see Les Miserables.  Not too bad of a day for movies.  These are some passes my brother gave me and the rest of the family for Christmas so that we could all go together.  It was something I saw today.

Day 584 - Mooch - 12.25.12 Christmas

This is my daughter's stuffed monkey Mooch.  She has had him for may years and still brings him places to sleep with.  Here he sat in a chair as we opened our Christmas presents this morning.  It was something I saw today.

Day 583 - Great Nephew - 12.24.12

We had a great Christmas Eve at my mother's house tonight.  Lots of family and friends.  This is my niece's son.  He was happy that it was Christmas eve.  This was something I saw today.

Day 582 - Ford - 12.23.12

On my drive across the desert this afternoon we stopped at Chiriaco Summit and at the gas station there were some old Ford cars/trucks.  It was something I saw today.

Day 581 - The Lilly Belle - 12.22.12

Today the family and my daughter's friend and I went to Disneyland.  It was basically a perfect visit.  We got there when it opened and when on a bunch of rides before 10AM.  Also because we got there early we got a reservation to ride the Lilly Belle.  We had tried doing this several times before, but without success.  Today, though, we got on.  It was very cool.  The conductor told us all sorts of stories and now my Disneyland trivia knowledge is even bigger.  I took this photo at the end of our ride.  I stayed behind to snap this photo of the empty interior.  I sat on the free chair on the right.  I was told that it was originally from the Queen Mary.  How cool is that?  So this was something I saw today.

Day 580 - Christmas Tree Angel - 12.21.12

I got to leave work early this afternoon to start my holiday break.  That was nice.  So this afternoon I took a picture of the angel on our tree.  It was something I saw today.

Day 579 - Christmas Tree In The Window - 12.20.12

When I got home from work this evening the Christmas tree was already glowing in the front window.  It was something I saw today.

Day 578 - Matthews C-Stand - 12.19.12

We had a meeting in a motion capture stage today.  In one corner of the room was a row of Matthews C-stands.  It was something I saw today.

Day 577 - Clouds Over The Hills - 12.18.12

There was some pretty crazy weather today with clouds blowing in and out most of the day.  The temperature also swung from comfortable to freezing.  I took a stroll at lunch to take some photos of the clouds hanging over the Griffith Park Hills.  It was something i saw today.

Day 576 - Little Stocking - 12.17.12

This cute little stocking is hanging on my wife's music drawers.  It was something I saw today.

Day 575 - Soda Pop - 12.16.12

This evening we threw a holiday party at our house.  We had a lot of fun with a house full of friends.  This shot of soda pop is the quiet before the party.  It was something I saw today.

Day 574 - Barbie Under The Demented Tree - 12.15.12

We did a lot of preparation for our Christmas party tomorrow.  Lots of errands in the morning and then I spent the afternoon putting up some more lights and preparing a game.  I got one of my wife's Holiday Barbie's down and photographed it next to our tree.  Once in the computer I decided to make it a acid trippy tree.  So this was something I saw today (sort of if I was tripping on acid).

Day 573 - Frost - 12.14.12

This morning there was actually frost on my car.  My daughter was fascinated by this.  She's grown up in Southern California so this was a real novelty.  I took a picture and when I got it into the computer I noticed this cool rainbow thing happening with the morning sun back lighting the frost.  It was something I saw today.

Day 572 - Advent Calendar - 12.13.12

I am feeling hopeful that this will be my last day home sick.  So I was home sick again and resorted to Christmas decorations again.  This advent calendar is right near our front door and is something I saw today.

Day 571 - Nativity - 12.12.12

Another miserable day in bed and on the couch.  This nativity is next to our TV and is something I saw today.

Day 570 - Christmas Stocking - 12.11.12

This is one of many, many Christmas stockings my mother has knitted for the family over the years.  This one happens to be for my wife.  It was something I saw today.

Day 569 - Mickey - 12.10.12

Didn't feel great today.  I think it was just fatigue which caught up to me once Nutcracker was done.  I slept a lot and instead of feeling better I think I'm getting sicker.  Bad throat and such.  Ugh!  Anyway, it was back to the Christmas tree tonight.  This Mickey Mouse ornament was something I saw today.

Day 568 - The Nutcracker Cast - 12.09.12

Today was the performances of The Nutcracker.  It was a long busy day of photography for me.  This photo of the cast was the last photo I  took this evening.  It was something I saw today.

Day 567 - Gold Ballerina - 12.08.12

This is a new ornament the wife got today.  It is now on the tree and was something I saw today.

Day 566 - Angel - 12.07.12

Yet another selection from the trusty old Christmas tree.  After a late night with the Nutcracker photos I am just too tired to futz with something original.  So this was something I saw today.

Day 565 - Sugar Plum Fairy - 12.06.12

Nutcracker dress rehearsal was today.  I shot many, many photos.  In fact there were just too many to look through and clean up so I quickly scanned for just a couple highlights to develop.  This one of the Sugar Plum fairy was one of those and was something I saw today.

Day 561 - Independence Dance Studio Hallway - 12.02.12

We were at Independence Dance Studio again today for Nutcracker rehearsals.  One of the first things I noticed this morning was the really cool light situation in this hallway.  I knew I could get some really dramatic and interesting photos.  After rehearsal my daughter and I did a quick photo session of a handful of poses.  This one is one of my favorites.  It was something I saw today.

Day 560 - Burbank Holiday Fire Engine - 12.01.12

Tonight was the Burbank tree lighting ceremony.  Mickey and Minnie Mouse were there.  Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on a holiday decorated Burbank fire engine.  After the tree lighting the festivities continued around the corner in downtown Burbank.  Santa and Mrs. Claus road on the engine down San Fernando.  There was a motorcycle police escort and if you look closely you can see that it was raining as well.  The detail of the rain is one of the reasons I chose this picture today.  So this was something I saw today.

Day 559 - Mouse Queen - 11.30.12

More Nutcracker rehearsals this evening.  This is a nice portrait of this year's Mouse Queen.  It was something I saw today.

Day 558 - Half-A-Nutcracker - 11.29.12

This evening at my daughter's dance studio I saw this half of a nutcracker and I decided to photograph it.  It was something I saw today.

Day 557 - Holiday Lights - 11.28.12

The holiday lights went up at work earlier this week.  Each night as I left I thought I needed to take a photo, however I knew I'd want a tripod for the shot.  Well today I planned ahead and brought a tripod so I could capture this long exposure shot of the trees lit up at work.  It came out pretty good.  It was something I saw today.

Day 556 - Santa Ornament - 11.27.12

I think I will be mining the photographic bounty of my Christmas tree a lot over the next few weeks.  There are so many things to photograph and it is an easy fall back.  So this little Santa ornament was something I saw today.

Day 555 - Ballerina Decoration - 11.26.12

I took advantage of the Christmas tree again tonight.  This ballerina decoration was something I saw today.

Day 554 - Fievel Mousekewitz Christmas Stocking - 11.25.12

Today was a lazy day.  I did quite a bit of reading.  As I sat reading in a chair next to our Christmas tree I noticed this Fievel Christmas stocking on our try and thought it worth a photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 553 - No Parking - 11.24.12

Got up before dawn to drive back home this morning.  Loaded up on orange juice and Dr. Pepper which meant that a little over an hour on the road and I needed to make a pit stop.  It was also a good excuse to take some photos just before the sun came up.  These no parking signs were something I saw today.

Day 552 - Christmas Lights - 11.23.12

I went and saw Wreck-It Ralph this afternoon.  I enjoyed it quite a bit.  It was a little slow in the middle, but it finished strong.  We went in the afternoon and while at the outdoor mall I noticed the Christmas decorations and thought I should return at night for some photos.  So once it got dark I went back.  This light wrapped tree was something I saw today.

Day 551 - Church at Dawn - 11.22.12

My wife and I got up before dawn and went for a walk around my parents' neighborhood.  Maybe it was our way of getting a little exercise in before we packed on the calories of Turkey Day.  This is a Catholic Church that was built several years ago right next their neighborhood.  It looked great in the morning light.  It was something I saw today.

Day 550 - Dino at Dawn - 11.21.12

Drove to Arizona early this morning.  We got to the Cabazon Dinosaurs just before sunrise.  We stopped for breakfast and a quick photo session.  This was something I saw today.

Day 549 - Ang Lee - 11.20.12

Today at work we had Ang Lee visit to talk about Life Of Pi and to do a Q & A session.  It was pretty cool.  This was something I saw today.

Day 548 - Snow Globe - 11.19.12

We had a toast at work for the upcoming opening of Rise of the Guardians.  We also had this giant snow globe that people could get in for pictures.  It was something I saw today.

Day 547 - Dancer and a Red Wall - 11.18.12

This is one of the dancers my daughter dances with.  This afternoon's Nutcracker rehearsal was at another studio in North Hollywood called Independence Studio.  The studio we were in had a great red wall.  It was something I saw today.

Day 546 - Rainy Alley - 11.17.12

It was rainy for much of the day today.  During one of the breaks I stepped out to take a photo of our alley.  It was something I saw today.

Day 545 - Diwali Dancing - 11.16.12

Happy Diwali everyone.  Today at work we celebrated Diwali over lunch.  It was really fun.  A group of employees choreographed a Bollywood style dance to 3 songs.  It was very cool.  This dancer was something I saw today.

Day 544 - Railing - 11.15.12

Another railing from work.  Nothing too interesting.  I've just been so busy that my strategy this week has been to find something quickly in the morning and get it out of the way.  So this railing was something I saw today.

Day 543 - Switchback - 11.14.12

There is one walkway at work which zigzags like a mountain switchback.  This is one of the turns. It was something I saw today.

Day 542 - Campanile Building 1020 - 11.13.12

I passed this sign this morning leaving the parking garage.  I thought a shallow depth of field shot might be interesting.  It was something I saw today.
