Day 3367 - Reading "The Dead Zone" - 08.09.20
Today has been a nice relaxing day. Yesterday afternoon I went for a walk and I stopped by a thrift store. It had a sign out in front that said record albums ¢10. I ended up being there for well over an hour going through their boxes and I ended up buying 119 records. Some those were 78s and 45s, but mostly it was albums. I bought some religious records from mostly artists I had never heard of, but for ¢10 it was worth the gamble, and then I got all sorts of other things from pop, to rap, to jazz and easy listening. I spent the rest of yesterday going through most of those records sampling the songs and when I found one I really liked I would digitize it. I did that until about 1:30 in the morning. So when I woke up early this morning I had about an hour and twenty minutes of tracks to put into a mix. So after breakfast that is what I did. 24 hours earlier I had no idea that I would have this mountain of new music and an interesting new mix of music to share with people. Once that was done I watch "I Was A Teenage Zombie" and took a nap. I got up around 3PM and listened to a bunch of the Al Hirt records I picked up and read The Dead Zone. What a great day. This is something I saw today.

I started this morning off with a little Brenda Lee. This is a greatest hits sort fo compilation of her early hits. When my kids were young I played this record a lot. This morning when I was playing the record my son walked in and said "I haven't heard that in a while." It was a good morning of tunes. This is something I saw today.

Day 3364 - Hank Locklin "Original Country And Western Stars" - 08.06.20
Today I pulled out a couple country records. I went digging in the shelf for L'il Abner and near the musicals I also have my country records. So I pulled this Hank Locklin record out with some Brenda Lee. I listened to the "L'il Abner" and the Hank Locklin this evening. I'm saving the Brenda Lee for tomorrow. This record contains a lot of early recordings by Hank Locklin. From my reading I gather that these were recordings that were originally released on 78 and then repackaged here. This is something I saw today.

Day 3332 - Baby Yoda And A Bag Of Ice - 07.05.20
Today when traveling back to California we did our usual stop at the Flying J for gas. I was taking some photos of Baby Yoda and the ice delivery guy asked me if I wanted to take a photo of Baby Yoda with a bag of ice. Of course I said yes. So we took this photo on the back of his truck. And then the nice guy gave us the bag of ice. We put is in our cooler. This was handy because a couple hours later our car broke down. After a couple hours in the desert heat our car was towed into Banning, California. We ended up having to get a motel room to stay the night because our car cant' be fixed until tomorrow. Once we finally settled in, it was nice to have some very cold drink all thanks to this bag of ice. This is something I saw today.

Today at lunch my wife and I watched some Outer Limits. We finished watching the episode "Soldier" (we watched the first half yesterday at lunch) which has a striking resemblance to "The Terminator" and then the next episode had William Shatner. It was also excellent. This is something I saw today.
This is my wife's birthday present. Her birthday isn't for a few more week's so she can't open it yet, though she obviously knows what it is. This is something I saw today.
This evening I threw on some David Lynch while I read some of "The Dead Zone." It was a good combination. About three songs in my wife asked who is this? I told her it was David Lynch and she said "I thought so, but I didn't want to say that." He does have a distinctive voice This is something I saw today.
Today I listened to "In Through The Out Door." It was something I saw today.
Today I listened to some Lesley Gore. I listened to side two twice because it kicks off with "You Don't Own Me" which is an awesome track. The opening piano riff is super dramatic and sort of ominous. I love it. This is something I saw today.
I picked this record up off the shelf this afternoon. I wasn't sure if I had every really listened to it. Chances are I popped it on whenever I bought it, but I couldn't remember. As it turns out it is a decent record. The track "Let's Live For Today" I did know and it a stand out track. Yet another record I'd like to digitize and have on my computer as well. This is something I saw today.
This morning I listened to this record twice. There is a track on side two called "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" that caught me off guard. It starts off very much how you'd expect a track from The Baja Marimba Band, but somewhere in the middle or back half of the song all these trippy sounds start to infect the song. I sat there listening thinking "what is going on?" in the best possible way. After listening to side two I had to relisten again just for that track. I then listened to side one again. I need to get this record into the computer. I really would like to put that track into a mix somewhere. This is something I saw today.
Today when my wife went shopping at Costco she and my son decided it would be fun to have some Legos around to play with to pass the time. They were actually pretty cheap. It is amazing how inexpensive they can be when they aren't some licensed them set like Star Wars. I think these will be fun. This is something I saw today.
This evening was a very lazy day with lots of movie watching. After watching "M*A*S*H", "The Clock" and "Judy" we ended the day with some absolute cinematic joy, "Son Of Godzilla." This is something I saw today.
Today we went to Target in search of Diet Dr. Pepper. It was a bust. We can't find it anywhere. While we were there at Target we did pick up a Star Wars puzzle, which seems like it will be fun. This is something I saw today.
Today at lunch we went to Vallarta to pick up some fresh tortillas and a few other supplies. We had chicken mole this evening. This is a cart return in the parking lot. This is something I saw today.
