Day 821 - School's Back - 08.19.13

School started back up today in Burbank.  This is my daughter this morning before school.  It was something I saw today.

Day 820 - Wizard Of Oz Cherry Cola - 08.18.13

I got this soda bottle a few months back.  I've kept it because it is got a great label.  It was something I saw today.

Day 819 - Morning Light - 08.17.13

This morning after cooking breakfast there was a bit of smoke in the kitchen, which made for some very cool streams of light in the kitchen.  It was something I saw today.

Day 818 - ABT Pick Up - 08.16.13

Today we picked up my daughter from her ABT summer intensive program.  She was there almost 3 weeks and today was their performances.  She did great.  As you can see, she was very happy.  She was something I saw today.

Day 817 - Skull In The Morning - 08.15.13

The sparkly skull is still on our dinner table.  This morning the sun was streaming in the front window through the blinds really making the skull sparkle.  I liked the long shadow as well.  It was something I saw today.

Day 816 - Son Of Tomahawk #133 - 08.14.13

I picked this comic book up at a flea market a couple weekends ago.  It is really beat up and falling apart.  I paid a buck which was probably too much, but I was keen on the Joe Kubert cover.  I don't really have any Western comics.  Well this was something I saw today.

Day 815 - North Glass - 08.13.13

I'm moving offices this weekend, which means I've been doing some packing at work.  There are a few things I am just bringing home so they don't get broken.  This is one of them.  This is a glass with North from Rise Of The Guardians on it.  As a department we had several different glasses made for our crew.  So I brought this home and photographed it on my table.  It was something I saw today.

Day 814 - Ghost - 08.12.13

It was a late night at work.  By the time I got home I hadn't photographed anything.  As I sat down to eat dinner I saw this ghost dish and thought I'd photograph it for today.    It was something I saw today.

Day 813 - The Americana Clock - 08.11.13

This afternoon the wife and I spent a little time at the Americana.  The weather was perfect. I snapped this photo of the clock.  It was something I saw today.

Day 812 - Bedazzled Skull - 08.10.13

Today I woke up at 3AM and started working on my second Halloween mix for this year.  I previously did a mix of only Ennio Morricone music which is a sort of bonus mix.  Today I began building the more traditional mix which is an eclectic mix of Halloween or kind of Halloween songs and audio clips.  I worked from 3AM to about 8 and then I took a nap.  I got up at 11AM and then got up and took some photos for the cover. I used this photo as the basis for the album cover.  If you want to see the final cover check out sapmusic.blogspot.com in October when I post the mix.  The final image is quite fun I think.  Well after playing with photos for a bit I continued mixing songs until about 4 in the afternoon.  I have 82 minutes of fun music mixed.  Phew, what a long day of work.  So now you know why I was taking photos of a bedazzled skull in August.  It was something I saw today.

Day 811 - Steve's - 08.09.13

Today at lunchtime I had enough free time to break away from work.  I called up my wife and we met at Steve's a great hamburger stand near our house.  We had a nice lunch eating outside.  The weather was perfect.  This was something I saw today.

Day 810 - Triathlon Team Banner - 08.08.13

The Triathlon team at work had a charity fundraiser silent auction this evening after work.  This picture was taken in the morning when banners were first put up.  It was something I saw today.

Day 809 - Stones Line - 08.07.13

This morning I took a slight detour on my way to work and drove down to the beginning of a walking path along the LA River.  At the beginning there was this sort of interesting stone landscaping thing that I photographed.  It was something I saw today.

Day 808 - Disney Records - 08.06.13

These are a couple records a friend at work gave me last week.  I brought them home today.  They are something I saw today.

Day 807 - Mini Wrestler - 08.05.13

Yet another silly toy in my possession.  This guy is about an inch tall.  He is some sort of masked wrestler.  I'd say he's a luchador, but I'm not sure he was supposed to be from Mexico.  I think these toys were just part of a line of littler wrestlers.  I could be way off on that, thought.  I took this photo on our nice white table, which is proving to be a great place to photograph toys.  It was something I saw today.

Day 806 - Cold Cherry Coke - 08.04.13

Today while out and about with my wife, we found ourselves extremely parched.  We decided to pop in the Fair Oaks pharmacy for a fountain cherry Coke.  This one is the one I had.  It hit the spot.  It was something I saw today.

Day 805 - Bubble - 08.03.13

This evening my wife and I went to the Americana at Brand.  We had dinner at Katsuya.  It was yum, yum good.  Afterwards we walked around the looking at some shops.  We went in to the Olive Oil joint and Sur La Table.  In front of Barnes and Noble there was a vendor selling bubble blowing guns.  I snapped photos of the bubbles.  The challenge was to get one in focus and to do it before some giddy child popped it.  This one came out exceptionally well I think.  You can read Barnes and Noble i the reflection.  You can also see me taking the photo which is kind of cool.  This was something I saw today.

Day 804 - Shoe Shelf - 08.02.13

When I got home this evening I saw that my wife had bought a nice little shelf thing for our shoes.  Keeps things much more organized.  It was something I saw today.

Day 803 - Music Loving Teddy Bear - 08.01.13

This evening when I got home from work guess what I saw.  No it wasn't this teddy bear listening to Eric B and Rakim.  I saw these headphones lying by my computer.  That gave me the idea to take their picture.  Then once I was setting up to take a photo the creative juices started going and I picked up this Teddy Bear, which I had as a child, and my iPod and posed this photo.  It is a bit of the absurd, but that's fun every once in a while.  So this was something I saw today.

Day 802 - Piglet Toy - 07.31.13

And today it one more toy from this weekend's acquisitions.  He too has been hanging out on the table with Donald.  I took this photo before dinner tonight.  It was something I saw today.

Day 801 - Donald Duck Toy - 07.30.13

This is another little toy I got this past weekend.  He's a wind up toy.  The great thing about him is that he doesn't just quickly hop around and wind down.  He slowly waddles back and forth and goes for at least a minute.  I think he's great.  He's been hanging out on our dining room table.  He was something I saw today.

Day 800 - Sad Jelly Baby - 07.29.13

This past weekend the family and I went to Buchanan Arms which is an English Pub/Restaurant.  They have a little store that sells English foods and such.  I had been in there before and because I am a huge Doctor Who fan every time I have looked for Jelly Babies.  I never got my hopes too high, because I knew that in the past it was illegal to import Jelly Babies because the FDA had a problem with one of the food dyes.  Well I was super excited when we went in there this time and found boxes and boxes of Jelly Babies.  I had to buy two packages.  This evening after dinner I opened the first bag and took some photos before munching a few down.  Yum.  I love the ones that look like they are crying.  I have featured such a sad Jelly Baby here.  It was something I saw today.

Day 799 - Lumiere and Cogsworth - 07.28.13

This afternoon I dropped my daughter off at dance camp in Orange County.  On the way home my wife and I stopped at downtown Disney to get a drink at Trader Sams.  We also walked around a bit.  I took this photo of Luniere and Cogsworth in front of the Lego store.  It was something I saw today.

Day 798 - Big Boy - 07.27.13

I came into possession of this great little toy today.  He is going on my shelf with other little bendable toys such as Gumby and Homer.  He was something I saw today.

Day 797 - Table and Chairs - 07.26.13

I'm pretty sure I have taken several similar pictures in the past at work.  Well it was Friday evening and I just wanted to get home to the old family so I didn't mind recycling old territory.  This table and chairs is near the Starbucks at work.  It was something I saw today.

Day 796 - Mullen Deck - 07.25.13

My friend at work recently bought this Rodney Mullen skateboard deck re-issue.  He has it hanging on the wall outside his office. While walking out this evening I thought I would snap a photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 794 - Fountain - 07.23.13

This morning when walking into work I noticed how the sun was just hitting the light on the fountain, but hadn't quite come up enough to hit the trees along the walkway.  I thought it was interesting and so I stopped to take a photo.  It was something I saw today.

Day 793 - Kang - 07.22.13

This afternoon I took some pictures of one of my friends at work.  After taking the photo I took a photo of his Kang statue on his desk.  It was something I saw today.

Day 792 - One Toe - 07.21.13

Today we returned to Brand Park with my daughter for a photo shoot.  We got several really good photos which made it very difficult to choose just one for this blog.  I settled on this one.  It was something I saw today.

Day 791 - Bridesmaids - 07.20.13

Today my wife and I decided to drive deep into the Valley to do a sort of location scout.  I had the idea of looking around the city of San Fernando and the San Fernando mission for interesting locations to shoot dance photos.  We walked around downtown San Fernando.  We found a great Mexican restaurant named El Abeulo that had amazing homemade tortillas.  After that we drove over to Mission Hills and the Sand Fernando Mission.  There wasn't anything that interesting at the mission, but across the street is Brand Park which was really beautiful.  I clearly wasn't the only one who thought this.  There must have been 10-15 different wedding parties or quinceaneras doing photo shoots in the park.  We walked around and took photos of the various locations at the park.  I will definitely return there.  I thought the view down this pathway was cool.  I love the play of light and dark.  At the end of the path you can see what I am assuming are bridesmaids getting their photos taken.  It was something I saw today.

Day 790 - Path at Work - 07.19.13

This morning I walked across campus to take some photos of some co-workers in the education department.  On the way back I was walking down one of the back paths.  I decided to stop and snap a photo of the path as is switched back on this little hill.  It was something I saw today.

Day 789 - Plane at Sunset - 07.18.13

This evening I stayed a little later to watch Turbo.  I got out of the film just as the sun was setting.  I drove to the top of the parking structure just in time to catch the sun dipping behind the ABC building next door.  I also was able to catch this plane taking off from Burbank Airport just as it passed in front of the sun.  Good timing I'd say.  It was something I saw today.

Day 788 - Dos Bros Taco Truck - 07.17.13

At lunch time there was a big celebration for the release of Turbo.  We had a Dos Bros Taco truck there.  It is a taco truck from the movie.  This bit of the engine sticks out of the front with a couple Turbo eyes.  I thought it was cute.  It was something I saw today.

Day 787 - Guest Speaker - 07.16.13

Today at work we had a company update.  We heard about all the exciting new ventures and films coming up.  Personally I was very excited by everything we heard today.  A real highlight was when a surprise guest came to express how much he liked working on Turbo and how much he likes being a part of the DreamWorks Animation family.  I felt really lucky to have been asked to take photos so I could have a choice seat up front.  So this is something I saw today.

Day 786 - Light in the Hedge - 07.15.13

This is a light in one of the path hedges at work.  I took this picture at the end of the day when heading to my car.  It was something I saw today.

This spider scepter is from a costume my daughter had for Halloween a couple years ago.  She was a spider queen.  For some reason this was out in in our family room today.  It was something I saw today.

Day 783 - Americana Statue - 07.12.13

This morning before work I swung by the Americana in Glendale to pick up movie tickets for Pacific Rim.  Today with one of my departments we went to see the movie and have lunch.  The movie was a ton of fun.  It was cheesy at times and there were cliches-o-plenty, but the tone of the movie was fun and forgiving.  Everyone in the group had a good time.  I took this photo early in the morning as you may have guessed due to the empty Americana.  This gold statue was something I saw today.

Day 782 - Boba Fett - 07.11.13
