I've had this album for a few years. It is still on the turntable from listening to it this past weekend. This is something I saw today.

Day 3965 - Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" LP - 03.29.22
The album on our 1001 album list was "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John. This is what I wrote for my review to my friends.
Masterpiece. I loved revisiting this record because not only are there are a few absolute classic Elton tracks on here like "Candle In The Wind", "Bennie And The Jets", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting", but there are some great deep cuts on this album. Elton John and Bernie Taupin were on the absolute top of their game at this point. And the production on all the tracks is just fantastic. This album sounds great and it sounds great being played loud. If you can listen with headphones or perhaps in your car with a good stereo where you can shut out all distractions it sounds great.
This is something I saw today.

We had a pretty heavy down pour this afternoon. I stepped out onto my porch to take a picture of the down pour as it was happening and I saw this big snail on the brick planter. This is something I saw today.

Day 3958 - "The Screaming Skulls Go To Hell" LP - 03.22.22
My son's band The Screaming Skulls finally got their vinyl records in. This is my copy. I'm very excited for him. He's been making music for many years and release albums and EPs before, but has never had anything pressed to vinyl until now. So this is a big moment for him. This is something I saw today.

Day 3955 - "Novo Combo" and "Bat Cave You Limbs" Albums - 03.19.22
I recently had someone reach out to me about getting digital files for this Novo Combo album that I had blogged about many years ago. The files I had were old and not the best quality, so it gave me an excuse to re-digitize this album at a better quality. I asked that person if there was any other music they were looking for and he gave me a list. I didn't have any of the albums he was looking for, but I did have this "Bat Cave" compilation which has a track from one of the bands. Again it gave me an excuse to re-digitize this album which is why I had these two albums out. This is something I saw today.

Day 3954 - "Reservoir Dogs" Blu-ray - 03.18.22
"Reservoir Dogs" is a film I had owned on VHS back in the day, but I had never converted over to DVD or Blu-ray. I recently discovered that my wife had never watched the film and so that was the perfect excuse to buy it on Blu-ray so that we could watch it one evening. This is something I saw today.

Day 3953 - "Earthbound" by Richard Matheson - 03.17.22
I picked up the book by Richard Matheson recently. I've never read any of Matheson's books, but I know his work from Television and films and adaptations of his books. I'm a fan of that work. This is something I saw today.

Day 3952 - "Inner Sanctum" Mysteries Blu-ray Collection - 03.16.22
Last Fall my wife and I saw a triple feature of "Inner Sanctum" movies. We really enjoyed them and so I recently bought this collection of all 6 films. They all start Lon Chaney, Jr. who we adore. Our nick name for him is Sad Sack mostly because of his Lawrence Talbot character, but that Sad Sack quality is in a lot of his characters. Anyway, I have this collection now and so I am excited to watch the films I haven't seen as well as revisiting the ones we saw last fall. This is something I saw today.

Day 3947 - "Tai Chi Master" & "Wing Chun" At The New Beverly - 03.11.22
This evening we went to the New Beverly for a Michelle Yeoh double feature. I'd seen both movies before, but it had been a long time. They are both a good time. I think I may enjoy "Wing Chun" the most. It brought back memories of my daughter when she was very little laughing at a sequence with a tray of tofu. This is something I saw today.

Day 3945 - Bob Marley And The Wailers "Catch A Fire" LP - 03.09.22
This Bob Marley album is the record I listened to today for the 1001 albums list. I wrote the following to my friends.
I was going to write that I thought this was another album that this was the first album that I owned by the artist, but upon reflection I think this was the first Bob Marley album I bought on CD. I had a tape of Rastaman Vibration in high school that was definitely the first album that I bought. I played that tape to death. Then I got "Catch A Fire" on CD in college and I listened to that a lot. That was early days for my CD collection and do wife fewer CD options this got a lot of spins back in the day. This album has a lot of classics. For me who has listened to this album so many times basically every song is a classic to me by now. For me there are no bad tracks and every single one is as familiar to me as any track from a Beatles album. At this point I don't even know which songs are the big tracks to the outside world. Obviously "Stir It Up" is probably the most recognizable song. I believe that is on the compilation album "Legend" which seems like the Bob Marley album almost everyone has owned at some point. But to me tracks like "Concrete Jungle", "400 Years", "Stop That Train" and "Kinky Reggae" are just as classic, but they aren't on Legend so I don't know of their status among the general public.
I don't know what else to write about this album other than it is essential listening for sure and it is a nice album to start off the day. For that matter it is also a nice album to end the day. It just has a nice vibe to wind down the day.
This is something I saw today.

Day 3944 - "Lark's Tongues In Aspic" by King Crimson - 03.08.22
This album by King Crimson was the album I listened to today for the 1001 albums challenge. I wrote the following about the record.
At some point I actually picked this up on vinyl. I don't even remember when. I'm sure it was in a thrift store. I haven't listened to it very much. I maybe had listened to it once when I got the record and had not returned to it until recently for this list. It is interesting, but not a favorite. I'm finding that I have to really be in the right mood for the whole prog rock thing. Sometimes I can get really into it and other times it leaves me cold. I think if i am really focused and I am really trying to get into the music and hear what is going on I appreciate it, but sometimes that is just too much work. I do appreciate the scope of the effort. I think that is the phrase I am looking for. But in the end I don't know if the ambition delivers for me.
This is something I saw today.
