Day 2971 - "The Secret Invasion" and "Darby's Rangers" - 07.10.19
Three nights in a row at the New Beverly and tonight's excursion was interesting. We started off with "The Secret Invasion" which was a Roger Corman war picture. It was a basic men on a mission picture. I was really interested in seeing "Darby's Rangers" which is a rare James Garner film. I love James Garner. The film print was a 16 mm print and it kept getting jammed up and burning. After about 5 times, they had to cancel the screening. I was really bummed because we were getting near the end, but it just wasn't going to happen. I think we had about one more reel to go. With all the delays we didn't get out until after midnight and we didn't even finish the movie. There weren't that many people who stuck around for the second feature and the theater gave us all movie passes since we weren't able to finish to film. So that is something I saw today.

Day 2970 - "Any Gun Can Play" and "Wicked, Wicked" - 07.09.19
Tonight was another late night at the New Beverly. This first film was "Any Gun Can Play" an enjoyable Spaghetti western. It had a great score by Francesco De Masi. The second film "Wicked, Wicked" was the real gem. It was a gimmick film that was for the most part presented entirely in split screen. It was great to see it in the theater with an audience. There was some interesting visual gags based on the split screen and they played great with an audience. This is something I saw today.

Day 2969 - "Murderers' Row" and "Kitten With A Whip" - 07.08.19
Tonight I saw the Dean Martin classic "Murderers' Row" and "Kitten With A Whip". Both films were excellent. I've seen "Murderers Row" at the New Bev before. It costars Sharon Tate who is adorable in the film. The second picture was a very early Ann-Margret black and white film affair. It was pretty dark and twisted. The photography was gorgeous. This was something I saw today.
