Day 2261 - The Planet Of The Apes Legacy Collection - 07.30.17
Friday night when I got home from work, I was in the mood for watching an old movie and probably because the new War of the Planet of the Apes is out, I was thinking about the original Apes films. I realized that I did not have them on disc. So I ordered this box set on Amazon and it came the next day. So I have started going through the series, starting with the second film because I watched the original within the last year with my daughter. So we picked up today at Beneath the Planet of the Apes. This is something I saw today.

Day 2260 - National Dance Day - 07.29.17
Today I got up really early and did the grocery shopping at 6 AM. So by the time the family got up, the basic shopping was done. This meant that I had the day free and so when my daughter got up and said it was National Dance Day and wondered if I would be interested in going downtown for the festivities and to take some photos with her friends I was all in. We wend to Grand Park and to City Hall and to the Disney Concert Hall. This is one at the concert hall. This is something i saw today.

Day 2259 - Longmire - 07.28.17
I like the show Longmire. It is a good modern day western. I have been catching up with episodes recently on Netflix. Coincidentally my son acquired a whole bunch or Netflix For Your Consideration DVDs from a friend. He gave me a bunch of them for series that I like. This is the one for Longmire. This is something I saw today.

Day 2256 - Graphic Boy Face - 07.25.17
I have been seeing these Boy Faces around Los Angeles for a while now. I used to see them to and from my way to work when I worked Mid Wilshire. This one shows up on this sign along the 110 recently. I did my best to capture it this morning. The photo is still a little shaky as I was driving. Would love to know the artist. This is something I saw today.

Day 2255 - The Mills Brothers "Merry Christmas" - 07.24.17
Yes, I know it is too early for Christmas music. This is a record I picked up last year around Christmas and I digitized it back then. I had the file sitting on my computer and I finally got around to breaking up the songs into individual files this weekend. I pulled the record down off the shelf so that I could so that. I still had the record out and so I grabbed it for a photo. This is something I saw today.

Day 2254 - Howard Jones "Things Can Only Get Better" - 07.23.17

Day 2252 - Dora Hall "We'll Sing In The Sunshine" - 07.21.17
This 45 of Dora Hall singing her rendition of the "We'll Sing In The Sunshine" is one I picked up at Atomic Records recently. "We'll Sing in the Sunshine" was originally written and recorded by Gale Garnett back in 1964. I have spun it several times since then. It is a pretty catchy pop tune and I like this version by Dora Hall a lot. This is something I saw today.

Day 2251 - View Into Dining Room - 07.20.17
I snapped this off before leaving the house this morning. I honestly didn't put much thought into it and in hindsight I think I should have spent a bit more time composing. It really isn't good. Oh well. Gotta keep moving forward. This is something I saw today.

Day 2250 - Buddhas - 07.19.17
I love waking up in the morning when the house is quiet and still. I really like it when my dining room is clean and in order and the Buddhas don't have a lot of clutter. The image of them with the glowing morning back light leaking through the window is very peaceful. I added a second home in the back to make the shot interesting. He usually live somewhere else in the house. This is something I saw today.

Day 2247 - The Modern Lovers - 07.16.17
I buy a lot of vinyl, but I am not a vinyl snob. I like music in all formats. In fact this past year I have dug into the CD collection quite a bit to play albums I had not listened to in a long time. This is not one of those. This is one of several CD's I bought last weekend at Atomic Records when I bought all the vinyl records. There were a few classic albums on CD on the racks for dirt cheap and this Modern Lovers album was one of them. Pure perfection and a bit a head of hits time, I think. This is something I saw today.

Day 2244 - The Best of Merle Haggard - 07.13.17
I few years ago I was introduced to Merle Haggard's Mama Tried. I can't even remember how I came across it and how it got onto my iPod, but I remember listening to it many times during that period. I think it was around the time I saw a street singer in Solvang singing some Merle Haggard songs. Anyway, I became a fan. So when I saw this record I had to buy it and for $2 how could I pass it up. This is something I saw today.

Day 2243 - Meat Loaf "Dead Ringer" - 07.12.17
Meat Loaf's second record "Dead Ringer" is not one I have ever come across in the wild before. I assume that is just because there are a lot less of these out there than Bat Out Of Hell which sold a gazillion copies. I found this at the thrift store this weekend. This is something I saw today.

Day 2239 - Depeche Mode "Some Great Reward" - 07.08.17
This afternoon my wife and daughter went out of town, which meant I was alone for the afternoon. I spent several hours in Atomic records thumbing through records. I found this classic Depeche Mode record. This is the first record I ever heard from Depeche Mode. It was at a party and some girl brought a tape of this and played People Are People. She was mad about the song and wanted everyone to hear it. I still remember that moment, partially because the song was pretty memorable, but mostly because of the passion she had over the song and how much she just wanted everyone to hear it. I get that way sometimes. In fact when my son got home tonight I couldn't wait to play him songs from the records that I bought today. We listened to records for long into the wee hours of the night. This is something I saw today.

Day 2237 - Clara Rockmore's "The Art Of The Theremin" - 07.06.17
One of the things I loved at the Musical Instrument Museum this past weekend was playing with a couple of the theremins they had there. There was also a fascinating display and video of Clara Rockmore playing the theremin. I bought this CD and another CD of her playing before leaving. The music is hypnotic. This is something I saw today.

I knew it was basically a sports bar type place, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was quite good. This is a shot of the menu. This is something I saw today.
