Day 1896 - New Order "Movement" - 07.31.16
This past week I have been listening to a lot of New Order. The reason for the obsession was sparked by the Netflix series "Stranger Things" which featured a New Order song on one of the episodes. I finishes watching the series through for the second time this weekend. Such a great show. Anyway, It made me want to go back and listen to some of the early records. I pulled Movement off a stack of CD's to listen to today. This is something I saw today.

Day 1895 - Old Zoo Stairs - 07.30.16
This morning we went hiking up to the old abandoned LA Zoo to take photos. It was sort of a location scout because we want to return and take some dance photos in some of the very photogenic spots. This is one of the stairwells leading down to one of the cages. I love all the graffiti and the texture it gives to the walls. This is something I saw today.

Day 1894 - The Story Of Heidi - 07.29.16
This is The Story Of Heidi, which was in a small section of 7-inch records that I want to digitize, but never seem to get around to. This is something I saw today.

Day 1890 - Batman Vs. Superman - 07.25.16
I picked this movie up over the weekend. I didn't see it in theaters because of the bad word of mouth, but I am a sucker for a Batman movie and so I figured I could give it a try at home. And with the ultimate edition I wouldn't be stuck in a theater for 3 hours. My assessment is that the movie isn't great, but it isn't horrible. I think it is better as a home watch in some respects because of it's length. You can pause and take a break when you need one. I also think the movie is interesting because so much of the movie Batman/Bruce Wayne is kind of a jerk. I understand why this might have been off putting to many, but I do think it gives a nice (ever so slight) ark to his character. Perhaps over the next series of DC films we'll see even more evolution. Anyway, this is something I saw today.

Day 1889 - The Class Of Nuke 'Em High - 07.24.16
One of the few things I picked up at Comic-Con this weekend was the soundtrack to "The Class of Nuke 'Em High" which I bought at the Troma booth. I've been listening to this all weekend. This is something I saw today.

Day 1888 - Red Sky - 07.23.16
Today was really interesting here in Burbank. There were some big fires just over the mountain and the smoke form the fires blew over us. The smoke was so thick that is was nearly blocking out the sun. The sun appeared red as seen here. This was taken mid afternoon. This is something I saw today.

Day 1887 - Comic-Con Escalator - 07.22.16
Today I went to Comic-Con in San Diego with my wife and daughter. We didn't attend and panels and just spent time walking the floor. I snapped this photo of a cosplayer on an escalator which I thought was a good representation of the weirdness that is Comic-Con. This is something I saw today.

Day 1886 - Miami Vice - 07.21.16
This photo blog is becoming my daily record blog. I pulled down the soundtrack to Miami Vice this morning and gave it a spin. The title track of course is fantastic, but there are some other Jan Hammer tracks that are good as well. There is also a Tina Turner track on side 2 "Better Be Good To Me." which is pretty good as well. This is something I saw today.

Day 1885 - The Beach Boys "Surfin' Safari" - 07.20.16
I recently watched "Love & Mercy" the film about Brian Wilson. I loved the movie. I am a sucker for biopics about musicians and singers and such. John Cusack and Paul Dano were great as Brian Wilson. So I have been delving into some Beach Boys records. I've listened to Pet Sounds several times this week. It made me also pull down this first Beach Boys record. This is something I saw today.

Day 1884 - Wings Of Desire - 07.19.16

Day 1883 - The White Stripes "White Blood Cells" - 07.18.16
What a classic record. I this record makes me think about how exciting music was when The White Stripes broke onto the scene in the early 2000s. This is something I saw today.

Day 1882 - The Neon Demon - 07.17.16

Day 1880 - Leatherman - 07.15.16
This is my Leatherman Super Tool from back in my days of doing Grip and Electric work. The sad backstory to this picture is that when I went to pick this up off the shelf I accidentally stepped on a couple of the new 78's I had been given and I broke on. Ugh! It was a really good record by Phil Harris. I still can't believe I did that. So this is sort of a painful photo. This is something I saw today.

Day 1879 - Jo Stafford "The Gentleman Is A Dope" - 07.14.16
It is funny that yesterday I took a photo of an album of 78's because last night when I got home there was a stack of 78's on my doorstep left for me by a neighbor. There was a bunch of Count Basie and Frank Sinatra and Jo Stafford. I hooked up my 78 player and listened to a few last night and some this morning. There were some fun songs. This Jo Stafford record is something I saw today.

I picked this soundtrack up yesterday. My wife and I went for a walk/pokemon hunt over on Magnolia Blvd. WE wandered into Atomic records and I quickly thumbed through the soundtracks. Day 1875 - Sammy Hagar "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" - 07.10.16
This is a twelve inch single from the Red Rocker. The B-side is the original version of "I've Done Everything For You." Sammy's version is pretty good, but I have to admit that the Rick Springfield version is perfection. This is something I saw today.

Today my wife and I picked up our daughter at the train station. While I was there I ran into a old friend from DreamWorks who was heading down to San Diego with his daughter. It was nice catching up with him while waiting for my daughter's train. This view of the tracks is something I saw today.
