Day 1408 - Rio Bravo - 03.31.15

This last week I pulled out Rio Bravo for a rewatch.  Such a great western.  I love that in the darkest hour of the movie Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson sing a couple songs.  Fantastic.  I haven't filed the DVD away yet so it was out this morning.  It was something I saw today.

I spent the day in Venice visiting with my mother and two aunts.  We walked down to Venice beach where my daughter and I watched some skaters.  This kid was really catching some big air.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1386 - Sylvia Robinson's Pillow Talk - 03.09.15

This is yet another album from this weekend's garage sale treasures.  This is Sylvia Robinson's Pillow Talk.  You can read up on Sylvia's music and music business career on Wikipedia or many other sources.  This record is from the early seventies and made some impact, but her biggest impact to music was as a producer and music business woman.  She was the founder and CEO of Sugarhill Records and produced Rapper's Delight and The Message two of the most influential hip hop records ever.  This record is more straight up disco in the vain of Donna Summer.  It has some good cuts, "Pillow Talk" being one of them.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1385 - Donnybrook with Donegan - 03.08.15

Here is another record from my garage sale haul yesterday.  This is one of those purchases that is more about rolling the dice based on a cover, because I did not know the artist.  I think I took a good gamble.  This is something I saw today.

Day 1384 - Uncle Jam Wants You - 03.07.15

Today I picked up some records at a garage sale.  The family had so many good records.  A lot of jazz and some R&B and funk.  Unfortunately there were more good records than I had money, so I had to leave many good records behind.  The upside is that this afternoon I was able to do one of my favorite things, which is to listen to new music.  This Funkadelic record is one that took a spin today.  This is something I saw today.

I had another walk down Wilshire Blvd. this afternoon.  I liked the juxtaposition of this post no bills sign and the little scrap of a poster that was just an eye.  I am not sure if this was done on purpose for a statement or a happy accident.  I'd like to think it is the former.  It is something I saw today.
